Truths and Lies

People apparently LOVE that game called Two Truths and a Lie.  I have been made to play that game at least three times now.  The last time I had to do it I felt incredibly uninspired.  I wrote three very boring things.  But after hearing a few people's truths and lies I became much more inspired.  So here's a brainstorm of things I can use in the future because I will likely have to play this game thirty seven more times in my life.

- I used to work in an airport maintenance shop.
- I can recite pi to the twentieth digit.
- One summer I ran two half marathons.

- I studied Latin for three years.
- I studied Art History and Archaeology for a year in Paris.
- I've had poetry published.

- I'm a member of the Juneau Alaska Archery Club.
- I once sang for Ryan Seacrest.
- I had a hernia when I was in the first grade.

- I married my high school sweetheart.
- I went to college on a golf scholarship.
- I have slept under the stars in Death Valley.

- I've been to London, Madrid, Rennes, Venice, Florence, Rome, Geneva, and Prague.
- I can hula and fire dance.
- English is not my first language.

- I can't swim.
- I read Tolstoy's War and Peace when I was ten years old.
- I have volunteered for food banks, hospitals, literacy programs, and a cat rescue organization.

Which ones do you think are true? Which ones are total fibs?

Daily Details:
- weather: cool but not raining
- cotton pea coat, old, approximate cost $40 divided by approximately 20 uses = $2 approximate current cost per wear (accpw)
- wool sweater, old, accpw $3
- jeans, old, accpw $5
- cowboy boots, old, bought used via ebay, accpw $2
- yellow bag, accpw $15
- camera charm, new from local jewelry store, cost $36 divided by 3 uses = accpw $12
- ethical ensemble evaluation: B+

    1. I can't swim, I've only spent a few days in Paris, fire scares me, my golf skills are so pathetic I never responded to the golf coach's letters although I did earn a golf medal in high school! I started War and Peace but couldn't finish... All the middle statements are false!

  8. The photos of you sliding down the bannister look like so much fun! Hmm I think the lies are that you worked in an airport maintenance shop, sang for Ryan, and went to college on a golf scholarship. The other ones I have no guesses. I'm probably totally wrong about the ones I did guess :)

  9. You nailed this look! I love it, especially with your awesome yellow bag!

Oh Two Truths and a Lie, I haven't played that since college. I'm going to guess you didn't sing for Ryan Seacrest, though if it's true, that is way awesome. And if you are indeed married to your high school sweetheart, I'd think that was awesome because I'm married to mine, but if it's not true, you're still cool, lol. :)

    1. That one's a lie. I played golf in high school- for the sole reason of getting out of gym class- but my skills definitely did not merit scholarship money!

  13. That's a great list for two truths and a lie! I especially hope you can recite pi to the the twentieth digit because that would be awesome :)

Love your booties and cute yellow bag. Happy Monday!

  14. HAHAHA Vivienne! I don't think I've been following your blog enough to answer that question. LOL Please always tell us the truth! I had one blogger to tell me that she would never buy a monogram Speedy bag and I looked up and she did a post on one. She then told me that she didn't know how to work Twitter and ended up she was better than me at it. HAHAHA I cut her loose! Love your outfit in the post! So cute and I love the pics of you sliding down the handrail.

  19. I have a love-hate relationship with that game. Always seems to be used for team building exercises! All I know is, if you can't swim, you must learn! It's so fun and there's nothing better than all our gorgeous western Washington lakes. Love the pics of you sliding down the railing!!! ~Sarah

    1. Sarah, I've tried! A lot! I've taken so many lessons but my last few teachers say I'm "a sinker." I'm hopeless at treading water but I'm really happy floating around with a kickboard!

    2. After looking at the piece chosen for SIA, I wouldn't want to get in the water either! ;)

  20. I've never even heard of the game before, but frankly, if I were playing, "ALL lies and ONE truth" would sound much more entertaining.

Love the outfit, you look really sharp in it!

  21. Oh, I would have totally pegged you for a girl who could recite pi to the 20th digit! My visions of you are shattered times 3.14159265358979323846:) Very cute outfit!

  22. First of all, I love your Inspiration Monday posts--you get it right, down to the details. I love it!
I've never played "2 truths and a lie" before, but I'll try to guess a couple. My guesses for lies: singing for Ryan Seacrest, studying Latin, English is not your first language. Am I right on any of those?

  23. Hi Vivienne! I'm back and just catching up. I love this post. I have read all of the above lies and truths. This is very intriguing. I wanted to answer but I read some of your comments and I would be cheating if I answered. I think you should make this a link up...such a great idea and we could learn about each other. Your outfit is very close to the inspiration but better, love the peacoat and yellow bag. You always punch it up with a great color. dawn suitcase vignettes xo

  24. o so sorry for not commenting sooner, my friend. i've been viewing your site on my smartphone while not at home and then forgetting to come back and comment on the computer. smartphones are dumb at commenting space.

here are my choices for your
    LIES:

    Set 1. #1
    Set 2 #3
    Set 3 #2
    Set 4 #2
    Set 5 #2
    Set 6 #3

This makes me think I don't know you very well. Did you read War and Peace at age 10? I didn't select that one as the lie. The lie I selected seemed more like the lie and therefore that would have War and Peace be true. Wow! Anxious to see the answers. Oh and I'm going to do this on my site, of course. (and I didn't read anyone else's guesses or if you have the answers posted somewhere by the time I did this, I have no idea/clue.)

    Hope your day is easy!

    1. I just came back and saw your answers posted above. You CAN'T swim? I didn't learn to swim until I was 18! A new roommate's boyfriend's brother taught me in my freshman year of college. The thing that did it for me was he said I was very buoyant and that I wouldn't ever sink. I believed and trusted that I got confident and took a PE Swimming 101 in the winter semester and passed with a B-. ta-dah! lol.

  25. I was right about 3 out of 6 (2., 4., 6.). pretty good, I guess. such interesting facts btw!
and about the outfit.. it's almost identical to the original one! so cool! stripes look very good together with regular blue jeans and I should try that look.

  26. your photos are fun, your outfit is better, than rachel's. the only ones i guessed false correctly were the singing for ryan seacrest, & the hula, & fire dancing. so, what's your 1st language then? not latin, is it? ;)

  27. That necklace!! So cute!! As popular as the camera necklace is, I still haven't found one that I like enough to buy... and now I see yours and it is perfect!! Too bad it's actually yours and not mine, haha!
