Cinderella is my favorite fairy tale and has been since I can recall. I think it's the combination of good overcoming obstacles plus a makeover... and shoes that fit perfectly. Did you know that there are Cinderella stories from all over the globe? I believe the two oldest versions are Chinese and Egyptian. There are also Korean, Native American, Irish, Filipino, Polish, and Indonesian traditional versions. More modern Alaskan, New York, and Bigfoot themed ones are also really fun to read. I pretty much love them all.
What's your favorite fairy tale?

The Little Mermaid was my favourite fairy tale!

ReplyDeleteoh and your black & white dress looks lovely together with the yellow bag. black & white make such a good company to almost every other brighter colour.

I always loved Sleeping Beauty. I admit, I loved the fairies in the Disney version a ton (make it pink, make it blue) but overall I've always enjoyed the story.
ReplyDeleteLove the dress you have on! Black and white is perfect!
I love ballet-I always fill so inspired after the performance! The dress you were wearing is beautiful!

What a beautiful dress and a beautiful photo of the ballet! You look perfectly ladylike and stylish Vivienne!
ReplyDeleteI haven't been to the ballet in years. But Cinderella was one of my favorites.
ReplyDeletelooking chic vivienne! once my ma got me season tickets to the ballet because she and i saw the nutcracker every december. i don't anymore. my guy and i decided there's not enough action at the ballet. we'd rather go to a rock concert. i mostly liked to look at the costumes anyway.
ReplyDeleteoh i forgot to mention my fave fairy tale. at this exact moment, it's snow queen. i prefer han's christian andersen over grimm's, for there's an element of life like melancholy to them. i do like fairy tales in general, as a rule. although, i do worry about what message they send to young girls. do you?
ReplyDeleteMorning Vivienne! I too love Cinderella. I had this little story book when I was young that I completely wore out! In August when we went to the fab new Mall in SLC the Disney store has all of the Characters in a set for $80. I was pining over it! If I got it I would play with it with my granddaughters and then put it away carefully. Thanks for the dream portion of your blog. awh. I too have seen the Cinderella Ballet many years ago. Ya and 'Busy' not a traditional name is it?
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize there were so many versions of Cinderella! That's wonderful! Ohhhh, the ballet looks so beautiful. I love the costumes! They are gorgeous! Love your dress Vivienne. It's pretty. My favorite story is Hansel and Gretel (sweets lol), Sleeping Beauty & Beauty and The Beast.

So great for you to go the the ballet...Cinderella is a great one. I love the rise from lowliness to best of all she achieves. What a girl...cute B&W dress. Very cute.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a beautiful performance (and beautiful day!). I have to admit to only seeing The Nutcracker...time to branch out! :) Amanda
ReplyDeleteCinderella is my favorite Disney princess :) I have so many Cinderella collectibles. Maybe I'll put them on my blog one day :) Love your black and white dress. Your yellow handbag gives it a nice pop of color.
ReplyDeleteThere's so much here to comment on! First, I love your dress.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you on the Monet Water lily dresses...the color is beautiful. I would love to see a ballet.
Fairy tales...I grew up on them. My father instilled my love of reading by reading Grimm's fairy tales to me. I have several volumes of their fairy tales. Its hard to pick a favorite, but I really love The Frog Prince (Iron Henry) and The Fisherman's Wife.
Ooh, I love those costumes! I've always wanted to do Monet's Water Lilies series for SIA, but I don't have anything to recreate that.
ReplyDeleteAnd there is a Vietnamese version of Cinderella too (completed with a nasty ending - even more so than the Grimm's version.)
I love both Cinderella and ballets, so this sounds like it would be really cool to see. Just seeing that one photo looks exciting! I wish it were in Detroit because I would be there!
