Did I already tell you one of my new year resolutions is to try a new food every week? This week the new item I tried is spaetzle! I had it for brunch at
Fresh Bistro in West Seattle. It was served with bratwurst and a fried egg along with pickled cabbage and a tomato based sauce. While I wasn't crazy about the cabbage and sauce, the spaetzle was quite lovely, especially with the egg. However, I think the best part of the meal was the cappucino. Delicious!
Have you ever had spaetzle?
Daily Details:
- weather: cool morning, warm day
- dress, thrifted, repaired by me, cost $5 divided by one use =
approximate current cost per wear (accpw) $5
- blazer, old, accpw $12
- sandals, very old, accpw $1
- bag, accpw $8
- necklace, old, accpw $3
I have not...but I am quite adventurous about new foods...I also have my standbys. Love the dress, with and without jacket.
ReplyDeleteI need to try this spaetzle. Sounds interesting. Oh, what a lovely dress! The prints are soft and nice.

You tried spaetzle? That's so funny, I love them, but I think spaetzle are something very german/austrian/swiss ;-) And the whole meal looks very german, although I've never seen an egg over spaetzle... Well you need to try Kaesespätzle, is spaetzle with cream and melted cheese and onions, soooo delicious (and of course very good for our hips... *sigh*).
ReplyDeleteI think this is a very good resolution, I try to buy every week something new at the supermarket, because I tend to eat the same things/meals...
And I love your dress, I think all this ethical evaluation you are doing with your outfits is really great! I also have a little project until the end of the year, but I still need to think about it a bit more. I'm not really happy with my remix-qualitites, and I want to minimize the size of my closet, but I'm not yet sure how...

Yum! That sounds sooo good. I am a sucker for anything German/Austrian (was it? I'm pretty sure spaeztle is). I think thats a wonderful New Year's resolution!
ReplyDeleteI love your resolution of trying new foods. Hope you don't mind if I adopt it for myself. Finally a resolution that feeds the soul and stomach haha.

ReplyDeleteThat is a great resolution--I might have to steal it for next year! I've never had spaetzle, but I want to try it (or even try to make it!).
ReplyDeleteWhat a great dress, I love it!
You are far more adventurous than I am in the food department! I've never had spaetzle.

Never tried that before! What a cool resolution! I love this dress on you vivienne! It is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI haven't had spaetzle in years. There was a restaurant that used to serve it as a side dish. I always used to get it. Never had it as part of breakfast though.
ReplyDeleteLooking good, love the dress and I love trying new foods whenever I can!

You look gorgeous Vivienne; the print on the dress reminds me of a watercolour abstract.
ReplyDeleteIt's been years but I have had spaetzle and loved it. Your New Year's resolution is a great one; we recently decided to do an International Week every month, this month's was Mexican, next month we'll be eating Greek for a week and so on...
I actually have no idea what it is! DO explain! What a charming dress and so different!
ReplyDeleteThat dress is so feminine and pretty on you...I love the watercolor print.
ReplyDeleteI'm not real adventurous when it comes to food! I wish I was, but I just can't do it.....
I haven't even heard about that dish but I LOVE that dress you're wearing here. it's one of the most beautiful maxi dresses I've seen and I'm very picky when it comes to maxis. I only own one.

SO HUNGRY! mmm looks good. i have had spaetzle or things that are basically twists on it - i like it! i really like it when it's a 'twist' on it. we had one at disney this weekend with peas in it instead - it was so good. my husband calls it 'deflated gnocchi'.
ReplyDeleteanyyyyhoww this dress is so super pretty on you. i love the flow-iness of it - it's beautiful

The dress is sooo beautiful and romantic, lovely lovely find! :)
ReplyDeleteI've had spaetzle but it's been awhile. My favorite German food is the sausages and of course the beer.
ReplyDeleteYour dress is adorable and I absolutely love the idea of "ACCPW". I should do something like that cause my closet is bursting and I still keep buying things I don't really need. *sigh*
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to Spaetzle...well, since I'm from Germany I've had them several times, even if they're not so popular in my region. I've never seen a meal that combines Spaetzle with Bratwurst and Eggs.
what a lovely dress! you are adventurous. um the answer to your question is nuh uh. probably not gonna ever want any pickled cabbage :P, bratwurst (i'm a vegetarian), i'm allergic to eggs, & i don't like coffee.
ReplyDeleteDo you know how gorgeous you look in these photos? If not, I am here to tell you... YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL! Your style is evolving and your lovely personality along with it! I look forward to visiting your blog and witnessing your fashion escapades as well as your fantastic personality!
