I recently found myself stunned to be listening to a woman I barely know telling me an incredible amount of personal information about her divorce, her ex-husband, her ex-husband's girlfriend, her kids, her eating habits, her emotional epiphany at the base of a saguaro... and I thought to myself, "What did I say to this woman that sounded like, 'Tell me all your problems'?"
But then I realized I'm far worse than she is: she told me, one person, a bunch of stuff semi-privately. I tell all you guys all kinds of things and this information is available to anyone with an internet connection. So, I am in no position to judge.

I know what you mean, I sharing more on my blog than I do with most people I know it's strange really!
ReplyDeleteI love your take on this, I especially love your turquoise heels <3
But, it is one thing to share on a blog, where the visitor can decide whether or not to read and another thing when you accost an unwilling listener and share way too much!
ReplyDeleteLove your cardigan and shoes :-)
I totally like this look of yours. those blue shoes and the yellow bag are beyond awesome together!
ReplyDeleteMaiken,
Maikeni blogi - part of me
I really love your hair in this picture. It looks all shiny and pretty. I am totally lame at doing anything with my hair and just wear it straight and down all the time. I also really like the brightness of your bag!
ReplyDeleteLove your look - very Alba-esque. I would just be glad there isn't a creepy guy following you around with a camera like Jessica Alba! haha

Here&Now
Haha! True story. Love how you recreated this outfit, right down to the pose. :)
ReplyDeleteThere are some differences Vivienne, the main ones being: we can choose not to read it and you have a clear sense of what boundaries are appropriate to you.
ReplyDeleteI really like your interpretation of the Jessica Alba inspiration pic...you always have such a fun take on them. Love the cardigan with it's graceful folds!
I love how you posed JUST like Jessica for your photo! Your yellow crossbody bag looks great with the contrasting blue shoes! Sounds like that woman needs a therapist, stat.

Great picture - I love that you posed like her!! I always love seeing your fun yellow bag!
ReplyDeleteI know people like that who just love to overshare. But I get what you mean about blogging too, but the difference is, I don't think you overshare things like THAT. I enjoy reading the things that you post!
Love that airplane necklace! So fun :) And I know exactly what you mean. What's funny is I'm generally a pretty private person, but then I have this blog where I talk about my life with strangers :D Happy Monday!!
ReplyDeleteI'd say it's totally different--we visit your blog to hear about you, it's not unwarranted!! Oh and to see your fabulous outfits, like this awesome take on today's IM look. I love your version (and the copycat pose, so cute!) with those killer shoes!!
ReplyDeletei agree with ki and jacqueline...we choose to read your blog, you didn't choose to get bombarded with this poor woman's life story!
ReplyDeleteThat's what blogs are for...SHARING! I love that you share. And I sympathize. Strangers have always felt the need to tell me waaaay too many details about their lives!! What is that all about anyway?? It drives me crazy! But I just usually just sigh and nod and say, "I know...."

You know, that brings up an interesting point. But I have to agree with a lot of the previous comments. Blogging is for sharing and those of us who read are choosing to do so because we care and are genuinely interested in what you have to say! But some people do have a habit of over sharing in real life. Totally can sympathize there!
ReplyDeleteOn a different note, I love your take on this inspiration! It's a comfy and cute look, and those bright shoes dress it right up. Perfect for the weekend!

you probably just have one of those faces. or personalities. you seem like a nice person, and i think certain people get a little over board. sometimes i wonder. but a blog is also different. because you edit. you think. i agree with the other comments. and indeed - this is the perfect topic for the inspiration! i feel awful for celebrities who constantly have people stalking them for photos. i'd go crazy. and i LOVE your pose - and that yellow bag! i need to go get a yellow bag

vivienne, oooo to your jacket! can i touch your purse? just kidding. ;) i'm thinking that the lady must have thought you were a good listener. maybe she just needed to spill her guts to someone, and lucky you got to be that somebody. i've had people overshare to me, since junior high. although i've been guilty of doing the same thing too.
ReplyDeleteVery cute! Love the shoes and the bag! Nice take on the inspiration.

Great outfit and think it's funny that you posed like her too! :) Love that yellow purse too!

Aren't we all guilty of the overshare, from time to time? Whether it be internet social medium or IRL....
ReplyDeleteI still love your airplane necklace.

Ok im obsessed with your shoes! They're too cute!! I also love the adorable airplane necklace. Popping over from two birds!

I think you nailed the inspiration look (all that is missing is the paparazzi in the background).
ReplyDeleteChic on the Cheap
Nice cell phone shot! And I have to say honestly, you always look better than the photo that inspired you. A++++
ReplyDeletei just love the bag and shoes here
ReplyDeleteso fun and funky
great job on your jessica look

I try really hard to monitor my over sharing, it's hard to keep yourself in check sometimes! I wonder what it would be like if I was born just a few decades earlier sometimes...
ReplyDeleteAlso, I love your jeans! They have no fading/whisker/bleaching stuff on them and that is a rare find! Jealous that you thrifted them, now I can't run to the store and totally copy you! Haha maybe that was the point of you throttling them, I don't know, hehe!
I'm kind of obsessing over your yellow bag and blue shoes. Also people choose to read your blog so its solicited, so I would say you are much better than that woman;)
ReplyDeleteMuch love,
Sara
This is a great point, because although I share pictures of myself all over the 'net, I'm actually quite private. I have several friends and family that are appalled that I "let people see what I wore". To that I say, well, people are going to see what I'm wearing anyhow, why not give them a venue for talking about it??? Love your cheerful bag!! ~Sarah
ReplyDeletecute shoes and bag!!!!
ReplyDeleteI feel like blogs are more like journals so it's okay but telling a stranger seems weird to me. hahaha
So true plus I saw you in bed with your dog...lol. Great photo, you could be a celebrity, you are a celebrity in my book. Love your shoes and that bag is such a great choice for your outfit...just lovely. dawn suitcase vignettes xo
ReplyDeleteYou are very interesting so there is no such things as TMI. Love the same pose.
